#2 Nittany Lions escape with a 31-25 win over the #17 Boilermakers.

Penn State makes a last minute defensive stand as Purdue is unable to reach the end zone on 4 plays after reaching the 12-yard line w/ :31 left. The Nittany Lions' defense also accounted for 2 TDs as Lavar Arrington returns a fumble for a score, and Courtney Brown returns an INT for a TD and 28-14 lead early in the 3rd quarter.

Penn State's other TDs come on big passes by Kevin Thompson, 39 yards to Eddie Drummond and 78 yards to Chafie Fields. Drew Brees throws for 379 yards and 2 TDs for the Boilermakers.
