Wisconsin overpowers Stanford along the lines, holding the Cardinal to minus-5 yards rushing while Ron Dayne earns MVP honors with 200 yards rushing and 1 TD. Despite the big edge, the Badgers don't seal the win until making a 4th down stop near midfield with less than 2 minutes to play.

The Cardinal leads 9-3 at the half after Kerry Carter's 1-yard TD run w/ 2:03 left in the 2nd quarter. However, Wisconsin takes the lead early in the 3rd quarter when Dayne caps the opening drive of the half with a 4-yard TD run. Brooks Bollinger stretches the lead to 17-9 with a 1-yard TD run midway through the 4th quarter.
