Cardinal stages a huge rally to beat the Trojans 35-31.

Stanford erases USC's 21-0 lead and then hangs on for the win when Tim Smith picks off Mike Van Raaphorst's pass at the 12 on the final play. Van Raaphorst throws for a school-record 415 yards and 3 TDs, but also suffers 3 INTs.

The Trojans had sprinted to a 21-0 lead, but the Cardinal gets a pair of TDs before halftime to pull within 24-14, and then take the lead for good on Todd Husak's 1-yard TD run on the opening play of the 4th quarter. Husak throws for 290 yards.
