Game Notes

#1 Seminoles have a perfect finish in a 46-29 win over the #2 Hokies.

Florida State rallies to beat Virginia Tech after giving up 22 straight points, to cap an undefeated National Championship season. Peter Warrick claims MVP honors, catching 6 passes for 163 yards and 2 TDs and adding a 59-yard punt return for a TD.

Warrick's TD return gives the Seminoles a 28-7 lead in the 2nd quarter, and Florida State drives into Hokies' territory, threatening the turn the game into a blowout when the drive goes in reverse and momentum goes with it. Virginia Tech pulls within 28-14 before halftime and then 15 straight points in the 3rd quarter, highlighted by a pair of TD runs by Andre Kendrick to take a 29-28 lead.

The Seminoles finally find the switch early in the 4th quarter, with Chris Weinke hitting Ron Dugans on a 14-yard TD pass and Warrick for a 2-point conversion. After a Sebastian Janikowski FG extends the lead to 39-29, Weinke and Warrick seal the outcome with a 43-yard TD pass midway through the final quarter.
