Game Notes

Cardinal Mooney Cardinals turn away the Harding Raiders 28-13.

Cardinal Mooney takes advantage of some turnovers, and puts 21 points up in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-0 lead at the half. The Cardinals ride an efficient offense led by junior QB/S Dan McCarthy (Notre Dame) and junior RB/LB Michael Zordich (Penn State).

Zordich caps a long drive with a 4-yard TD run to get Cardinal Mooney on the board. A fumble then sets up a 7-yard TD run by McCarthy, who later extends the lead to 21-0 with a 22-yard TD pass to junior Tim Marlowe (Nebraska) just before halftime.

Harding attempts to get back into the game in the 2nd half when RB/LB Daniel Herron (Ohio State) picks off McCarthy and returns it to the 1, where he scores on the next play. Herron finishes with 120 yards rushing.

The Raiders cut the gap further when Tyon Flowers returns a fumble 27 yards for a score. However, the Cardinals put the game away with a 17-play, 70-yard drive that McCarthy caps with a 1-yard TD sneak.

Cardinal Mooney includes OT Mike Madsen (Miami O.), OT Ishmaaily Kitchen (Kent State), junior DE Taylor Hill (Michigan).

Harding includes DT Chris Anzevino (Kent State), DE Marlin Parker (Toledo), WR/DB Chris Rucker (Michigan State), DB Sidney Glover (West Virginia).
