Washington's speedy defense shuts down the Green Wave's 2 stars for much of the game. Reid McCollum (South Carolina) throws for 113 yards and is sacked 5 times, with A.J. Green (Georgia) catching 5 passes for 52 yards. The Tornadoes outgain Summerville 473-to-157.

Washington makes a quick statement when Sancho McDonald (Middle Tennessee State) hits Davon Johnson (Miami) with a 62-yard TD pass on the 2nd play. They connect again on a 43-yard TD pass in the 2nd quarter to open a 22-0 lead. McDonald finishes 12-of-19 for 244 yards with Johnson catching 5 passes for 155 yards. Sophomore Eduardo Clements (Miami) rushes for 111 yards and 2 TDs.
