Stratford Spartans ride their star to a 21-17 win over Cypress-Fairbanks.

The Bobcats' star RB Sam McGuffie (Michigan/Rice) is idled early with an ankle injury after running for 66 yards on 11 carries and setting Wesley Cobb's 1-yard TD run for a 7-0 lead.

However, Stratford's Andrew Luck (Stanford) rallies the Spartans, throwing for 228 yards and 2 TDs, and running for 75 yards and another TD. He hits Rodney Anderson with a 5-yard TD pass in the 2nd quarter to tie it 7-7, and then finds B.J. Griffin for a 13-yard TD pass and 14-10 lead. He extends the lead to 21-10 with a 28-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter.

Without McGuffie, Stratford's defense lead by NT Jimmy Burge (Missouri) and junior DE Terrence Lloyd (Baylor) are able to corral the Bobcats.
