Boston hands improving Houston its 1st home loss of the season, placing 4 starters and Kevin McHale off the bench in double figures, all 17 points or more. Larry Bird scores 23 and adds 10 boards. Larry Parish scores 17 and adds 11 rebounds.

Houston gets a strong game from Ralph Sampson, 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Hakeem Olajuwon scores 14 and pulls down 18 boards. But they are outmanned by Boston's front court of Bird, Parish, McHale and Cedric Maxwell who combine for 76 points and 34 rebounds.

After a solid start by the Rockets, the Celtics pull to within 60-58 at the half before dominating the 2nd half.
