Malone hits his last 9 shots, scoring a career playoff high 35 points as Washington avoids elimination. Detroit stages an early rally in the 4th quarter to regain the lead from the Bullets, but Malone becomes a 1-man rally in the final minutes.

Moses Malone adds 23 points and 9 rebounds to support Malone. Isiah Thomas scores 29 points, and Adrian Dantley adds 22 while playing with the flu as the Pistons attempt to sweep Washington.
