San Antonio comes out at a blistering pace in the 1st half, taking a 65-44 lead at the break as Houston is unable to shoot and run with the Spurs. George Gervin leads the way with 32 points, with running mate Larry Kenon adding 22 points.

Billy Paultz adds 24 points, adding a key role of keeping Mose Malone busy to help San Antonio open a 3-game lead over the Rockets in the Central Division. Malone is left shouldering most of the load for Houston, scoring 33 points while pulling down 31 boards.
