A big goal-line stand and ensuing drive on the next possession lifts San Francisco in a defensive battle. Leading 6-3 in the 4th, the 49ers hold Philadelphia on 7 straight plays inside the 10, the last seeing Derek Smith pick off Donovan McNabb in the end zone.

San Francisco then goes on an 80-yard drive to score the game's only touchdown, a 32-yard pass scoring pass from Jeff Garcia. The 49ers manage just 244 total yards, but get a solid effort from their defense and a mistake-prone effort by the Eagles, who commit 11 penalties for 109 yards compared to 3 for 15 by San Francisco.
