Minnesota survives when time runs out after Germane Crowell is tackled in bounds at the Vikings' 26 following 3 straight scoring possessions by Detroit that cut a 31-6 lead to a 5-point margin w/ 6:18 to play. The Lions' Charlie Batch completes 31-of-41 for 345 yards and 3 TDs to carry Detroit's failed comeback attempt.

Minnesota is led by Daunte Culpepper, who throws for 244 yards and 1 TD, and rushes for 83 yards and 2 TDs. Culpepper breaks loose for a 33-yard TD run to give the Vikings a 24-6 lead and later extends it with a 47-yard TD pass to Cris Carter early in the 2nd half.
