49ers hold off the Saints 28-27.

Jeff Garcia tosses 4 TDs to carry San Francisco in the shootout. Garcia throws 3 TDs in the 1st half putting New Orleans down 21-11.

However, the Saints rally in the 2nd half on the strength of a trio of big performances by Aaron Brooks, Ricky Williams and Willie Jackson. Brooks throws for 347 yards and 2 TDs, with Jackson catching 11 passes for 167 yards while Williams rushes for 121 yards and adds 52 yards receiving.

San Francisco loses its lead, then overtakes New Orleans on Garcia's 10-yard TD pass to Eric Johnson early in the 4th quarter. Williams' big day is marred by a dropped pass in the end zone that forces the Saints to settle for a 36-yard FG by John Carney and a 1-point deficit with 8:00 to play.
