Cowboys ruin Emmitt Smith's return, beating the Cardinals 24-7.

The Dallas defense dominates, knocking Smith from the game with minus-1 yard rushing after 6 carries, and holding Arizona to just 151 yards while recording safeties on consecutive possessions in the 3rd quarter. Leading 20-7, LaRoi Glover tackles Jeff Blake in the end zone on 1 series, and Kenyon Coleman runs him out of the end zone on the next.

Meanwhile, Quincy Carter is an efficient 20-of-31 for 277 yards and 2 TDs. Carter hits Terry Glenn with a 51-yard TD pass on a flea-flicker to start the scoring. Arizona answers after a 63-yard KO return sets up Blake's 24-yard TD pass to Bryan Gilmore, but Carter's 18-yard TD pass to Richie Anderson puts Dallas ahead for good in the 2nd quarter.
