Game Notes

Lions hold off the Eagles for 17-13 win.

Detroit escapes with the victory after Philadelphia drops the ball after a gift second chance. A fumble by Horace King sets up the Eagles with the ball at the Lions' 14, but Tom Sullivan is stripped of the ball on the next play and Lem Barney recovers to seal Detroit's win.

Philadelphia outgains Detroit 330-to-235, but suffers 3 turnovers and the Lions put together enough offense when needed. Dexter Bussey runs for a 14-yard TD in the 1st quarter, and then adds a 3-yard TD catch from Greg Landry to give Detroit the lead 17-13 in the 3rd quarter. Bussey and King combine for most of the Lions' offense, with Bussey gaining 84 yards running/receiving and King totalling 128 yards combined.
