49ers rally to nip the Saints at the end 20-17.

Ray Wersching hits a 42-yard FG on the final play after San Francisco gets a 2nd chance when an INT by Ernie Jackson is negated by a late hit on Jim Plunkett. Given the new life, the 49ers complete their rally after New Orleans had gone up 17-3 in the 1st half.

The Saints built a big lead on a 92-yard KO return for a score by Clarence Chapman and a 1-yard TD run by Archie Manning. However, the 49ers rally behind the running of Wilbur Jackson and Delvin Williams, who combine for 267 yards rushing. Jackson is the big gainer, rushing for 190 yards and 2 TDs on 16 carries. Jackson cuts into the New Orleans lead with a 34-yard TD run in the 2nd quarter, and draws San Francisco even with a 1-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter.
