Saints stun the Bears 42-24.

New Orleans gets its first win behind a scoring outburst by Archie Manning and its defense. Manning runs for 3 TDs and throws for another helping the Saints to a 28-10 lead, and then the defense returns a pair of turnovers for scores to offset a 415-yard effort by Chicago.

Walter Payton rushes for 140 yards and 2 TDs, and adds 4 catches for 53 yards and 1 TD. However, its not enough as Manning's 11-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter gives New Orleans a 28-10 lead, and then Bob Pollard scoops up a fumble and returns it 52 yards for a TD. After Payton's 2nd TD, Jim Merlo picks off Bob Avellini and returns it 57 yards for another TD.
