Game Notes

Bucs climb to .500 with a 33-19 win over the Bears.

Tampa Bay takes control in the 2nd half to improve to 4-4 after overcoming a 16-13 deficit. Chicago goes ahead on Roland Harper's 2-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter. However, Lee Roy Selmon blocks the PAT, and its all downhill for the Bears after that.

Tampa Bay responds with a drive for a 1-yard TD run by Doug Williams to take a 19-16 lead. Williams extends the lead with a 40-yard TD pass to Morris Owens in the 4th quarter and Johnny Davis' 2-yard TD run seals the Bears' fate.

The Bucs defense holds Walter Payton to just 34 yards on 15 carries while forcing 3 turnovers. Ricky Bell leads Tampa Bay on offense, rushing for 95 yards while Williams hits 11-of-19 for 180 yards and 2 TDs.
