Game Notes

Roger Staubach, Cowboys rally to deny the Redskins a division title and playoff spot, 35-34.

Staubach tosses a pair of TDs in the final minutes as Dallas snatches the playoff spot from Washington. The Redskins lose a 17-0 lead, but regain it with 17 straight points in the 4th quarter, capped by John Riggins' 66-yard TD run to take a 34-21 lead.

However, Staubach hits Ron Springs with a 26-yard TD pass after Randy White recovers a fumble near midfield, and then after a stop, Staubach guides the Cowboys on a long drive in the final 2 minutes to take the lead with an 8-yard TD pass to Tony Hill w/ :34 left.

Stauhach goes 24-of-42 for 336 yards and 3 TDs, with Hill and Preston Pearson both catching passes for over 100 yards. Riggins runs for 151 yards for Washington.
