Falcons snatch a controversial 28-17 win over the Bears.

Fortunes reverse quickly in the 3rd quarter on a controversial fumble call and subsequent ejection. With Chicago leading 17-14, Walter Payton is tackled just short of the goal line on a 2nd down, but Payton is ruled to have lost a fumble. Payton then contacts an official and is ejected.

Faced with being down by 10 in the 3rd quarter, Atlanta ends up taking the lead when Steve Bartkowski hits Alfred Jenkins with a 42-yard TD pass two series later. Bartkowski extends the lead with a 9-yard TD pass to William Andrews in the 4th quarter. Bartkowski finishes with 250 yards and 3 TD passes.
