Cowboys pull an escape, beating the Cardinals 27-24.

Danny White hits Tony Hill for a 28-yard TD pass on 4th down with :45 left as Dallas avoids an upset by St. Louis. The Cardinals had been poised to deliver a knockout blow earlier and take a 11-point lead in the 4th quarter only to see Dennis Thurman pick off Jim Hart and return it 78 yards for a score and 20-17 lead.

St. Louis immediately answers with a fast drive, resulting in a 34-yard TD pass from Hart to Mel Gray. Hart throws for 258 yards and 2 TDs. Pat Tilley catches 5 passes for 145 yards and 1 TD. Ottis Anderson rushes for 92 yards, but Dallas is unable to stop White and the Dallas passing attack in the end.
