Tampa Bay pulls away in the 1st half, using a pair of turnovers to put up 13 points in the final 2 minutes of the 1st half for a 23-0 lead over New York. The Bucs force 4 turnovers and hold the Giants to just 220 yards offense.

Ricky Bell gives Tampa Bay the early lead with a 21-yard TD run. Garo Yepremian adds 3 FGs to reach the 200-mark in his career while Doug Williams adds a 25-yard TD pass to Mike Shumann late in the 2nd quarter.

After New York uses a pair of turnovers on successive offensive plays in the 3rd quarter to light a spark, driving for a potential TD to cut the lead to 10 points, Mike Washington picks off Phil Simms in the end zone. Tampa Bay then marches 80 yards for 1-yard TD run by Bell to clinch the outcome. Bell rushes for 130 yards and 2 TDs on 26 carries.
