Detroit rolls as Billy Sims makes a starring debut, rushing for 153 yards and 3 TDs, and catches 2 passes for 64 yards. The Lions' line dominates as Dexter Bussey adds 111 yards and 1 TD on 14 carries.

Los Angeles starts quickly in the Rams' 1st game in Anaheim as Drew Hill returns the opening kickoff 98 yards for a TD, and they open a 20-10 lead in the 2nd quarter before Detroit starts to rally. Sims scores on a 1-yard run for his 2nd TD.

After the Lions tie the game 20-20 in the 3rd quarter, Bussey puts Detroit in front with a 15-yard TD run and then Sims follows with a 41-yard TD jaunt to break the game open.
