William Andrews rushes for 111 yards, breaking the Atlanta record with 1,024 yards rushing for the season. However, the Falcons avoid OT only after a potential tying TD is called back by offsetting unsportsmanlike penalties, that results in Washington settling for a FG instead.

Atlanta trails 3-0 at the half before breaking through on Steve Bartkowski's 14-yard TD pass to Alfred Jenkins in the 3rd quarter. Bartkowski throws for 213 yards.
