Eric Hipple becomes a 1st start star as the Lions torch the Bears 48-17 on MNF.

Hipple makes his starting debut, throwing for 336 yards and 4 TDs providing Detroit with a spark against struggling Chicago. Hipple hits a big pass to Freddie Scott on the opening series, setting up a 1-yard sneak for a TD. Scott catches 3 passes for 110 yards and Rick Kane adds 101 yards rushing to help overcome the absence of Billy Sims.

After the Bears answer Hipple's TD run with an 85-yard TD pass from Vince Evans to Marcus Anderson, its mostly downhill for Chicago. Hipple adds a 2nd TD run, and a 2-yard TD toss to Rick Kane, when Eddie Murray connects on a 53-yard FG for his 2nd of the 1st half, Detroit takes a 27-14 lead to halftime.

Hipple connects with David Hill on a 10-yard TD pass in the 3rd quarter and then a 44-yarder to Scott, followed by a 94-yard strike to Leonard Thompson to finish off the Bears.
