Game Notes

Shootout ends in a whimper as Dolphins and Jets tie 28-28.

After a wild regulation, the game ends when Pat Leahy pushes a 48-yard FG attempt wide right on the final play of OT. The miss caps a quarter marked by fatigue and conservative strategy.

The air had been filled with passes often ending in spectacular catches in regulation. Nat Moore catches 7 passes for a Miami-record 210 yards and 2 TDs, with Don Strock replacing an injured David Woodley and throwing for 279 yards and 2 TDs.

Richard Todd throws for 310 yards and 4 TDs with Wesley Walker catching 8 passes for 112 yards and 2 TDs. Walker gathers in a pass after it bounces off 2 defenders for a 14-yard TD pass to tie it 21-21 early in the 4th quarter. After Moore catches a 23-yard TD pass from Stock to regain the lead, New York ties it when Bobby Jones snatches a pass between 2 defenders for a 36-yard TD pass.
