Game Notes

Vikings hold off the Bengals for 20-14 win.

Minnesota uses Cincinnati mistakes to claim the victory and finish 8-8. The Vikings turn a pair of fumbles by Rodney Tate into TDs, use an interception by John Swain in the end zone to stop a drive late in the 4th quarter. The Bengals also lose a KO return for a TD when an illegal block wipes it out. Jim Breech misses all 3 of his FG attempts.

Tate's 1st fumble sets up a 2-yard TD pass from Wade Wilson to start the scoring, and his 2nd sets up the winning score, a 1-yard plunge by Tony Galbreath in the 4th quarter. Galbreath rushes for 87 yards and 2 TDs and catches 3 passes for 24 yards. Wilson, making his 1st NFL start, completes 16 of 28 for 124 yards and 1 TD to go with 2 INTs.

Ken Riley picks off a pair of passes in his final NFL game.
