Buffalo survives with a goalline stand in the final minutes. Cincinnati reached the 4-yard inside the final 2 minutes, but after being stopped short on 2 runs and an incomplete pass, Charles Alexander is stopped just short of the end zone on 4th down.

The Bengals move the ball, even after losing Kenny Anderson to an injury in the 3rd quarter, but are unable to convert on more than 2 FGs by Jim Breech. Meanwhile, the Bills are inconsistent, with Fred Steinfort missing 2 of 3 FG attempts, but Joe Ferguson hits Jerry Butler for a 14-yard TD pass over Ken Riley to take a 10-3 lead in the 3rd quarter.
