Green Bay prevails when Mark Moseley pushes his FG attempt wide right on the final play. The Packers had just regained the lead on Jan Stenerud's 20-yard FG w/ :52 left, marking the 5th lead change of the 4th quarter.

Trailing 33-31, the Packers go-ahead on Gary Lewis' 2-yard run on an end-around early in the 4th quarter, but John Riggins responds with a 1-yard TD run for Washington before Lynn Dickey hits Mike Meade with a 31-yard TD pass. The Redskins go back in front on Joe Theismann's 5-yard TD pass to Joe Washington.

The 2 teams combine for 1,035 yards offense, and 771 yards passing. Dickey throws for 387 yards and 3 TDs with Paul Coffman catching 6 passes for 124 yards and 2 TDs. Theismann throws for 398 yards and 2 TDs.
