Game Notes

Bears sack the Lions 30-13.

Chicago sacks Detroit QBs 12 times, equaling an NFL single-game record to snap a 2-game losing streak heading into the playoffs. Steve McMichael leads the way with 2 1/2 sacks, while Dan Hampton, Otis Wilson and Henry Waechter each record 2 as the Bears trap Chris Witkowski and Eric Hipple for 100 yards in losses.

Greg Landry makes a return to the NFL, becoming Chicago's 6th quarterback of the season. Despite his rust, Landry sneaks in for a TD, giving the Bears a 14-6 halftime lead and breaks the game open with a 55-yard TD pass to Willie Gault in the 4th quarter for a 27-6 edge. Walter Payton rushes for 62 yards and catches a pair of passes for 25 yards, putting him over 2,000 yards combined rushing and receiving for the 2nd year in a row.
