Game Notes

Eagles escape with a 23-23 tie with the Lions.

Philadelphia overcomes a miserable first half to rally for a tie in regulation, then survives in OT when Eddie Murray hits the upright on a 21-yard FG attempt on Detroit's 1st possession. The Lions appeared poised for the victory in regulation after Eddie Murray's 18-yard FG w/ a minute to play, but the Eagles are able to drive quickly for a 40-yard FG by Paul McFadden on the next to last play.

Detroit had dominated the 1st half, taking a 17-3 lead on a TD pass from Gary Danielson to James Jones, and then a halfback pass from Jones to Danielson for a 22-yard TD. However, Philadelphia adds a FG before halftime and Ron Jaworski hits Mike Quick for a 68-yard TD pass in the 3rd quarter as the Lions' attack disappears during the quarter, allowing the Eagles to stage their comeback.
