Dallas avenges its loss to Detroit in the previous playoffs by overwhelming the staggering Lions to improve to 9-1. Emmitt Smith scores on a pair of TD runs in the 1st quarter as the Cowboys are never challenged.

Lin Elliott hits 2 of his 3 FGs in the 2nd quarter to open a 20-3 lead at halftime, and when Smith scores on a 1-yard TD run early in the 3rd quarter Dallas delivers the knockout blow. Barry Sanders rushes for 108 yards, but the rest of the Lions manage just 93 total yards and turn it over 4 times to sink to 2-7.
