San Francisco starts right, but Dallas finishes strong. Eric Davis scoops up a fumble and returns it 44 yards for a TD on the opening series to put the 49ers up quickly. However, the Cowboys fight back to take a 16-10 lead on 3 FGs by Eddie Murray and a 1-yard TD run by Emmitt Smith.

San Francisco retakes the lead on Steve Young's 12-yard TD pass to Brent Jones in the 3rd quarter. However, Troy Aikman leads Dallas on 2 big drives, capping one with a 36-yard TD pass to put the Cowboys ahead 23-17.
