Bears survive for a 16-13 win over the Chargers.

San Diego starts fast, but Chicago prevails when the Chargers are unable to finish. The Bears escape with the win when John Carney hooks a 38-yard FG attempt left in the final 2 minutes. Carney had an earlier attempt blocked by Carl Simpson, helping Chicago as it rallied.

The Chargers took a 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter after John Kidd scores on a 2-yard run with a fake FG. However, San Diego's offense stalls, and the Bears draw within 10-9 on 3 FGs by Kevin Butler. Jim Harbaugh's 38-yard TD pass to Curtis Conway in the 3rd quarter puts Chicago ahead.
