Game Notes

Lions beat the Bears 24-17.

Detroit begins its annual push to save Wayne Fontes' job, knocking Chicago out of a 1st place tie in the process. The Lions are able to capitalize on short fields due to Bears' special teams woes and a big day by Brett Perriman.

Perriman catches a career best 12 passes for 142 yards and Barry Sanders adds a 120 yards and 2 TDs rushing. After short punts help set up earlier scores, Detroit takes over in good field position following a missed 52-yard FG attempt by Kevin Butler, and cash in with 4 completions by Don Majkowski, the final one an 11-yard TD strike to Herman Moore in the 4th quarter for the lead.
