Washington rallies to tie it late and wins it when Darrell Green picks off Scott Mitchell and returns it 7 yards for a TD in OT. Detroit had taken a 30-27 lead on Mitchell's 51-yard TD pass to Brett Perriman in the 4th quarter. Mitchell threw for 327 yards and 3 TDs before making the big mistake in OT.

The teams traded scores after the Lions erased an early 13-0 deficit. Henry Ellard gave the Redskins a 27-23 lead in the 4th quarter with a 13-yard TD reception from Gus Frerotte on his 700th career catch. Ellard has 6 catches for 112 yards.
