Vikings hang on for a 24-22 win over the Lions.

Minnesota survives when Robert Griffith breaks up a pass on a 2-point conversion with just over 2 minutes to play to preserve a 2-point lead, and then Cris Carter recovers the onside kick attempt so the Vikings can run out the clock. Detroit had rallied behind Barry Sanders in the 2nd half. Sanders rushes for 134 yards and 2-yard TD run that pulls the Lions within 24-22.

Brad Johnson is sharp early, hitting 13-of-17 to start the game, finishing with 195 yards and 3 TDs. The Vikings strike for 17 points on their 1st 3 possessions. After Detroit draws within 17-16, Johnson hits Carter with a 30-yard TD pass.
