San Francisco survives without injured stars Steve Young and Jerry Rice as the defense steps up and the 49ers overcome 4 turnovers to rally for the win. Rookie Jim Druckenmiller struggles for much of his 1st start, but does guide 2 scoring drives against a stout St. Louis defense.

Trailing 12-7 in the 4th quarter, Garrison Hearst breaks free for a 35-yard TD run and then Druckenmiller connects with Terry Kirby for 2-point conversion. Earlier, Druckenmiller hits J.J. Stokes for a 25-yard TD pass and a 7-6 lead in the 2nd quarter. However, the Rams battle back as Jeff Wilkins hits 4 FGs.
