Game Notes

Lions come alive, torch the Bears 55-20.

Down 17-3, Detroit awakens and then buries Chicago with the most points allowed by the Bears. Barry Sanders rushes for 167 yards and 3 TDs on 19 carries to spark the Lions.

Chicago had converted a couple long passes from Erik Kramer to Ricky Proehl into a 17-3 lead in the 2nd quarter. Scott Mitchell then hits Herman Moore with an 8-yard TD pass and Sanders adds a 40-yard TD run drawing Detroit within 20-17 at halftime. The Lions tie it on a FG early in the 3rd and then Mitchell puts them ahead with a 50-yard TD strike to Johnnie Morton.
