Buffalo beats Detroit with a safety after Scott Mitchell's 8-yard TD run had tied it 13-13 w/ 5:54 left. The Bills pinned the Lions at the 1-yard line following a punt on the ensuing series and then Bruce Smith traps Barry Sanders in the end zone for the safety to break the tie w/ 2:12 left.

On the 2nd play after the ensuing free kick, Antowain Smith breaks loose for a 57-yard TD run to seal the win. Detroit had dominated the game statistically as Mitchell had a strong game and Sanders rushed for 107 yards, but in the end Buffalo had the winning answers.
