San Francisco holds off Arizona for the win, but loses Steve Young to a concussion in the 1st half that finishes his career. Young had completed 13-of-23 for 92 yards and a 13-yard TD pass to Jerry Rice. However, Young leaves after hitting his head against a teammate while being sandwiched between 2 Cardinals defenders.

Jeff Garcia replaces Young in the 2nd half and Arizona rallies within 17-10 but the Cardinals can draw no closer as Jake Plummer tosses a pair of picks and is sacked 5 times.
