Detroit jumps in front 18-0 in the 1st half in its 1st game post-Barry Sanders and then holds off a 2nd half rally by Seattle. Ron Rivers rushes for 96 yards on 16 carries and Cory Schlesinger adds 50 yards rushing making up for his lost production.

Charlie Batch throws for 216 yards and 3 TDs, connecting with Germane Crowell catching 7 passes for 142 yards and 2 TDs. The Seahawks draw within 25-20 on the 2nd TD pass from Jon Kitna to Sean Dawkins, but the Lions respond with a time-consuming drive ending in Jason Hanson's 2nd FG with just 2:10 left.
