San Francisco begins life after Steve Young with a win when Tennessee's try for 2 points fails with 1:48 left and then the 49ers recover the onside kick. The Titans trailed 24-13 in the 4th quarter before Al Del Greco hits a 28-yard FG and then Neil O'Donnell connects with Yancey Thigpen on a 32-yard TD pass.

Jeff Garcia, making his 1st start in place of Young, who suffered a concussion in the previous game, completes 21-of-33 for 243 yards and 2 TDs, while also running for another. O'Donnell throws for 355 yards and 2 TDs.
