Game Notes

Jaguars destroy the Dolphins 62-7.

Jacksonville dominates from the very beginning in a humbling end to the careers of Dan Marino and Jimmy Johnson. Miami commits 7 turnovers and its out of the game before the 1st quarter is over, falling behind 24-0.

Mark Brunell caps the opening possession with an 8-yard TD pass to Jimmy Smith. After Marino is picked off on his 1st pass, the Jaguars add a FG. Then Fred Taylor breaks tackles on Jacksonville's next possession and sprints for a 90-yard TD run. Marino is then sacked and fumbles on the Dolphins' next offensive play and Tony Brackens scores on a 16-yard fumble return after having his recovery celebration interrupted by teammates pushing him toward the end zone.

In the end, Jacksonville outgains Miami 520-to-131 total yards with Brunell and Taylor resting early after Brunell tosses a pair of TDs and Taylor rushes for 135 yards. Marino departs after the 1st series of the 3rd quarter, with a final stat line of 11-of-25 for 92 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs and 2 sacks.
