Game Notes

Bucs power by the Eagles for 24-17 win.

Tampa Bay rides a strong start and its running game to win the franchise's 1st playoff game. Ricky Bell carries 38 times for 142 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Bucs by Philadelphia.

Bell sandwiches a FG by Neil O'Donoghue with a pair of TD runs opening a 17-0 lead in the 1st half. The lead could have been larger, but Tampa Bay settles for a FG after a bad incompletion call negates a TD pass from Doug Williams to Jimmie Giles.

However, Williams and Giles combine on the KO blow, connecting for a 9-yard TD pass early in the 4th quarter after the Eagles claw back within 17-10. Tampa Bay's defense holds Philadelphia to just 48 yards rushing while dominating the line of scrimmage.
