Game Notes

Cowboys, defense dominate a 5-0 win over the Lions.

Dallas manages just 22 yards passing and a 26-yard FG by Mike Clark, but it proves to be enough as the defense rises to stop Detroit. The Cowboys hold the the Lions to 156 total yards, while forcing 3 turnovers, 3 sacks and a decisive safety when Jethro Pugh and George Andrie sack Greg Landry in the end zone in the 4th quarter.

The safety forces the Lions to need a TD to stay alive in the closing minutes, with Mel Renfro picking off Bill Munson to seal the win. The Cowboys do manage 209 yards rushing, lead by Duane Thomas' 135 yards and Walt Garrison's 75 yards.
