Game Notes

Ravens hammer the Raiders 16-3.

Baltimore advances to its 1st Super Bowl thanks to a smothering defense and 2 consecutive plays that change the game completely. With the game scoreless in the 1st half, Oakland pins the Ravens deep in their own territory, but Trent Dilfer completes a short pass that turns into a championship game record 96-yard TD.

On the Raiders' next play from scrimmage, Tony Siragusa knocks down RIch Gannon as he releases the ball and then belly flops all 370 pounds on Gannon, driving him out of the game with a shoulder injury. Gannon returns in the 2nd half but is ineffective. Baltimore is able to slowly wear down the Raiders with a conservative approach with no threat from Oakland's offense.
