Game Notes

Raiders hammer the Steelers 38-10.

Los Angeles answers an early threat by Pittsburgh with a dominant performance. The Raiders put up 31 straight points after holding the Steelers at the 1 and forcing an 18-yard FG by Gary Anderson. Marcus Allen leads the way rushing for 121 yards and 2 TDs on just 13 carries.

Lester Hayes sets the tone picking off Cliff Stout on Pittsburgh's possession after the FG and returning it 18 yards for a TD. Allen adds a 4-yard run and a FG by Chris Bahr pushes the lead to 17-3 by halftime. Kenny King's 9-yard TD run caps the opening drive of the 2nd half and Allen's 49-yard TD jaunt breaks the game open.

Jim Plunkett hits 21-of-34 for 232 yards. Stout throws for 187 yards in his playoff debut, but most come on a 58-yard TD pass to John Stallworth with the Steelers trailing 31-3 in the 3rd quarter.
