San Francisco gets big defensive plays to beat Cincinnati. The Bengals are able to move the ball easily, but costly turnovers and a goal-line stand save the 49ers. San Francisco makes a pair of turnovers inside the 10, and then stops Cincinnati on 4th-and-goal while protecting a 20-7 lead in the 3rd quarter.

The 49ers also convert 2 more turnovers into a pair of FGs. Joe Montana claims MVP honors with an efficient, if unspectacular effort, throwing for 157 yards and 1 TD. Ken Anderson throws for 300 yards and 2 TDs, but is also intercepted twice.
